Making time for family is important for many reasons! Enjoying activities as a family is a great way to spend an evening together after a busy day. It can sometimes be difficult to find time to spend together so here are a few ideas to help set aside some time for family fun. A family that plays together stays together, right?
Making Time for Family – Plan Ahead:
Choose a day for a family fun night and write it on your calendar. Make sure everyone in the family knows about it and sets time aside for it. Planning activities in advance helps you to stay organized and on track. Will you be playing board games? Which ones? Will you be going out somewhere together? Can you purchase tickets in advance? Preparing ahead of time will give you more time to spend together as a family.
Making Time for Family – Order Food:
Although it may not be the most cost effective supper plan, ordering in food for a family fun night saves a lot of time. By not having to cook, do dishes and clean the kitchen, you’ll have more time to enjoy your family fun activities.
Making Time for Family – Unplug For The Night:
Television, computers and phones can be distractions that eat up a lot of your family time. On family fun night, set a rule that everyone will be “unplugged” for the night meaning no text messaging, no television, no computer, etc.
Making Time for Family – Keep Your Promises:
When you plan ahead for a family fun night you’ll know that you have to get done all of your errands in advance. If you promise to complete your homework the night before, keep your promise and get it done. The same rule goes for errands, housework and the office.
Making Time for Family – No Chores:
Your kids will love this one – no chores for the night! Take a night off from household chores – you know that pile of laundry can wait another night.

I love this post. We try and do Family Fun Night once a week. Usually this happens on Sundays when the hubby is home all day. We play board games, have snacks and usually end the night with a family movie before putting the kids to bed. We look forward to this all week, it’s so good for bonding with the kiddos!
We do family fun nights often. I love the idea of planning one. That way everyone can look forward to it. Thanks for the idea.
