When we first started this Cats Aging Gracefully campaign with Royal Canin, we were hoping to help Ally’s health and reduce the amount of shedding. I’ve used Royal Canin food in the past and I knew it was a good brand but I couldn’t have imagined what a difference it would make in Ally in just 3 short weeks! My husband keeps telling me how impressed he is too and how he plans on continuing with this food long after our cat food for senior cats challenge is over.
As you’ll remember from Week 1, we spoke to a vet for recommendations on our health concerns with Ally. Since she sheds so much (which I believe was starting to bother my allergies), the veterinarian recommended that we try the Royal Canin Hair & Skin 33 Formula. This food is formulated to nourish a dull coat, help fight dandruff, promote hair growth and show visible effects of a glossier coat in just 21 days. During the first week we already started to notice a decrease in shedding plus more of an interest in eating.
During Week 2, we were pleasantly surprised to see that the shedding issues were still decreasing. Ally started showing an increase in energy and continued to be excited about mealtime.
As we now wrap up Week 3, I am happy to report that Ally no longer seems to have a shedding issue! She still sheds a little bit – all cats do – but it’s no more than our other cat. It is such a relief to be able to sit down on the couch without having to first wipe all the hair off with a lint brush.
Even though Ally is now 7 years old, I can see that she is getting back some of her playful kitten energy. She’s chasing imaginary mice around the house, she’s awake a lot more during the day and she’s back to jumping up high on cabinets. The perfect hiding spot to runaway from an energetic two year old!
Now the only question I have left is…what are we going to do with all these lint brushes that we purchased in bulk?
I think the expression on her face in the above photo says it all!

I had never heard of this brand of cat food! Thanks for sharing!
I am always looking for ways to keep my kitties healthy. I will have to look into this one.
I’d love to switch but we switched not too long ago and we ended up with a $350 vet bill because of her constipation, etc. from the switch! This one looks like one that would be fine though. I had switched to a CHEAP cat food and it caused major issues for my cat!
It sounds like a great product. I don’t have cats but I’ll pass on the information to some friends of mine. Thanks for sharing.
