One of our most popular posts on Moms & Munchkins is a collection of Free Printable Baby Shower Games so I know there must be a lot of baby shower planning going on out there! I love sweet & cute themes plus a variety of delicious desserts certainly doesn’t hurt either, right? This Tweetie Pie baby shower theme has all of those things in one sweet (or should I say “tweet”) party.
I’m excited to announce that this party was featured in Calgary’s Child Magazine. View the magazine article online for more fun details!
Invitations:
For invitations, think spring meets shabby chic with soft pastel colors, floral prints and lace. For a more bright and bold baby shower, you could do bright tropical birds with an island twist…perhaps some non-alcoholic pina coladas? Think of what your mommy-to-be likes and plan a party working in her tastes.
Tweetie Pie Decorations:
I love outdoor parties but the weather (especially here in Canada) doesn’t always cooperate. If you can plan an outdoor party, a local park or backyard patio would be perfect. For colder days, check with your local greenhouse for prices for private events.
Some decorations that are easy to find (especially when Easter & spring decorations are in the stores) are:
- Decorative bird cages
- Birdhouses
- Moss
- Nests from your local craft store
- Baking cooling racks (to display the pies)
- Fresh flowers with twigs and leaves
- Grapevine wreaths around the bases of cake stands
- Simple ceramic bird decor
- Floral-print plates and cups
- Wicker baskets for holding items like utensils and napkins
- Large and colourful feathers placed in a small decorative vase
Have a cute picture of mommy & daddy-to-be? Frame this for your table with the caption “love birds”.
Food:
A Tweetie Pie party wouldn’t be complete without pie! You can get creative here with mini pies, pies on sticks, family-favorite pie recipes, tropical selections (key lime pie), frozen pies, and comfort foods like pumpkin pie. My tummy is growling now.
I absolutely love these birdie cake pops created by Celebrations Cake Pops.
Other than pie, some delicious ideas include:
- Twigs – pretzel sticks
- Nests – macaroon cookies topped with chocolate eggs
- Bird Feed – granola bars
Favors:
Food is always a popular choice for party favors but if you want something that won’t get gobbled down right away, here are some other ideas perfect for this theme:
- bird feeders
- birdhouses
- flowers to plant in the guest’s own garden
- Paper birdhouse favor boxes filled with egg-shaped candy like chocolate eggs or jelly beans
- Mini pies wrapped in twine with a personalized tag
A “Please remember to take your tweet!” sign could be added to the favor table.
Well, I’m off to make some pie. Apple pie is totally a breakfast food, right? {wink}
