This PAW Patrol Cake Pops Tutorial is courtesy of our contributor Deanna…A reader requested PAW Patrol cake pops and although eventually I would love to create all the characters I had to choose just one. With Earth Day coming up I thought Rocky would be the perfect pup to create! He’s all about reusing and recycling, which is something that I feel is very important to learn at a young age. So lets pup pup boogie and make our Rocky!
Here’s a cute little video showing you the process – keep reading for the full detailed instructions!
PAW Patrol Cake Pops Supplies:
- cake pop dough
- cake pops sticks
- white chocolate
- black chocolate
- light blue chocolate
- brown chocolate
- green chocolate
- pink chocolate
- toothpick
The first thing you’ll have to do is form the cake pop dough into Rocky’s face. Make sure you add on ears!
When creating the perfect Rocky grey I used about 90% white chocolate, 5% light blue chocolate and 5% black chocolate.
Don’t forget he has a dark spot by his eye so you’ll need to set some of that grey aside and add a bit more black chocolate to darken it.
Dip rocky completely into the light grey. Tap off excess chocolate.
Before it dries take your toothpick and add a blob of darker grey chocolate right where his left eye will go.
Again before Rocky dries completely, use the toothpick & scruff up the sides of Rocky’s head.
Grab some black chocolate and your toothpick then add a nose and smile.
Make his eyes layering white, then brown, then black in the centers. Add the finishing white glisten touch.
I went back and forth a million times with how to create his hat. In the end everything looked so silly so I had to go with the least silly. I simply added more cake pop dough to the top of his head securing it with some chocolate.
Then I used the toothpick and “painted” over his hat with white chocolate.
Once that dried I added a green paw to his hat and the hat bill.
If your Rocky looks silly it’s because I forgot to add eyebrows, so go ahead and do that now. Also add pink to the insides of his ears.
I tried to make this Rocky as easy as possible to recreate. I hope I succeeded and that you’ll be able to make your pup pup boogie fans a Rocky pop for earth day and teach them the importance of reusing and recycling!
