Marriott City Center – The Ideal Location for Pittsburgh Tourists

This post is courtesy of our contributor Krista…There is nothing better after a full day of travel to finally arrive at your hotel – especially when with traveling with children! Upon arrival at the Marriot City Center Pittsburgh, we instantly felt like we were at our home away from home. The concierge members were so welcoming! We were provided juicy strawberry lime water to cool down with & fresh fruit at the check-in desk. It was a welcome surprise after a long journey.

Having never been to Pittsburgh before, I was beyond thrilled with the location of the hotel and its proximity to everything that’s a “must-see” within the city. Located on the edge of downtown across from the Consul Energy Center (home of the Pittsburgh Penguins), leaves everything within the downtown core and surrounding areas walkable. We attended a Pirates games at PNC stadium and walked backed to the hotel in less than 25 minutes! The hotel also has a complimentary shuttle service (2 miles radius) during the week for those who are not keen on walking or need assistance. This is great with children in the heat! Additional options for transportation include Pittsburgh’s lite rail system the T Subway with the closest stop being Steel Plaza located 2 blocks from the hotel. The T subway is free within the downtown core.

The hotel room was spotless, modern and the beds were complete with fluffy pillows. A complimentary guest connectivity panel that allows guests to charge electronics or play movies etc. on the television was a convenient feature to have in the room! My little people would be watching all their bedtime favorites.

Extra amenities include a great mini blow-dryer, coffee machine and compact refrigerator perfect for cold drinks or bedtime snacks.

Guests have 24-hour access to the fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment.

For the kiddos, there is a fabulous pool and it is disability accessible.

Additionally, you will find the laundry facilities located in the fitness center – this is perfect for traveling with children and with Pittsburgh’s humidity!

There are multiple dining options within the hotel. Early risers can get a caffeine jolt at Starbucks located in the lobby. Steelhead Brasserie and the Steelhead Lounge are both open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with loads of options to suit everyone’s tastes. The in-room dinning menu is fantastic with the kids (12 and under) and the menu options were all under five dollars! No trip to Pittsburgh would be complete without experiencing the famous Primanti Bros sandwich shop in the strip district. I would recommend trying breakfast at the historic Pamela’s Diner in the strip district (you can walk from the hotel). The crepe pancakes are delightful! The dining options are limitless with the hotels convenient location.

Whether you’re in Pittsburgh for a sporting event, concert or business, the Marriot City Center is an excellent choice!
