Frozen Dinner Party

This Frozen Dinner Party post is courtesy of our contributor Kristie…As kids turn into teenagers, it seems like planning birthday parties can be a bit tough. I thought I had the coolest party planned until the first week of high school, when my daughter came home and announced she didn’t want a birthday party this year! How could it be? No more fun-themed birthday parties to plan, no decorating the house, finding matching party supplies and most of all, how was I going to make my daughter happy with no birthday party?

Secretly my fifteen year old daughter still likes Disney’s Frozen, so I decided to make a ‘Birthday Parties are Frozen in Time’ theme. I let my teen pick her birthday plans and she decided on shopping and a teen night at our local recreational facility. Knowing this, I had to figure out a way to throw in some secret surprises for her special day.

In order not to embarrass the girl, I asked her to have a few friends over for dinner – which she agreed. She picked pizza, so I decided to order that in and make some Frozen dinner party items to go along with it. We made ‘Ice Berry Punch’, ‘Snowflake Jello Desserts’ and some simple matching Cotton Candy Cupcakes.

I made the girls some small treat bags, which they absolutely loved! I decided to go with a bath theme, something they could use after their day of shopping and hanging out with friends at teen night! I found some snowflake bubble bath, pedicure/manicure kits, Frozen-coloured nail polishes, large blue-swirl suckers and our favourite Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion. The girls absolutely loved the products and one even made a comment “Aveeno is my favourite”. Being that we are from Calgary, Alberta (a very dry climate), my guess is they love it as much as I do since it leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth!

The girls had fun at their Frozen dinner party and my daughter even said, “thank you for the surprise and not completely embarrassing me”!

Frozen Dinner Party – Ice Berry Punch Recipe:

  • 1 can frozen lemonade
  • 1 Large Blue Hawaiian Punch

Prepare the lemonade as directed on the package. Mix one part lemonade to one part Hawaiian Punch. You can also freeze snowflake shaped ice, to fit the Disney’s Frozen theme. I found a snowflake ice tray at our local dollar store.
