Welcome to Party Tip Tuesday! Today we’re featuring the incredibly talented Dina with Deliciously Darling Events. She is so creative and I know you’re going to love her designs – check out her portfolio here. She’s a self-proclaimed glitter addict with plenty of unique DIY projects that you can try at home like this glitter cake stand tutorial that I must try sometime soon!
So I’ll now pass it over to Dina to share some party tips with us! After reading her post, washi tape is on my shopping list!
1) What is Deliciously Darling Events?
I started Deliciously Darling Events as an event planning company a few years ago. It was aimed at making parties unique & full of the darling little details that mean so much. As much as I love planning events for clients, I’ve shifted my focus to inspiring others to celebrate each moment. I can’t wait to unveil the new Deliciously Darling website next month!
2) When did you first know you had a passion for party styling?
I’ve always had an artistic & crafty side but decided to put down oil painting and really dove head first into the party world after my first son was born. It started with a 1st birthday party and snowballed from there. I really love it, it’s my creative outlet.
3) Of all the parties you’ve created, which one is your favorite and why?
My favorite would have to be my son’s Muppet party. I just love colorful parties and I decided to create a rainbow themed Muppets party. It all came together so perfectly.
4) For the crafty DIY moms out there, do you have some easy tips for ways they can take something ordinary and transform it into something extraordinary?
I really believe there is a crafty goddess in all of us! I try to look at other ways to use items and when all else fails, cover it in glitter. I giggle because I am a glitter addict and tend to use it in a lot of my crafts. From glittering a wooden cake stand to glittering mason jars.
Washi tape is another amazing crafty item. I love using it to give things a “facelift”. You can wrap washi tape around a tariccotta pot, around an old box or suitcase, even bottles.
5) For a parent looking to create a party theme completely unique for his/her child, how do you recommend they start thinking of unique ideas?
If your child is old enough to tell you what theme they want that is half the battle! I sit down with my boys and talk about different ideas – a favorite show, a favorite toy, a favorite activity, even a favorite song or book or food and once they have selected their theme – mommy runs with it. I do try to go for unique themes because I like the creativity in designing something new.
6) How did you celebrate Valentine’s Day this year?
I love Valentine’s Day! I always seem to be tapped by my kid’s teachers to create a Valentine’s day celebration at school. I love volunteering! This year we have two different themes. My oldest is in Kindergarten and they have decided on a Milk & Cookies theme. Milk bottles, paper sugar cookie embellishments and lots of pink & red. My youngest son’s class decided to go with a Mickey Mouse Valentines day theme. So lots of black, red & white!
