Over my lifetime (36 years now), I’ve spent many Valentine’s Days as a single lady. As a child, my mom always acted as Cupid to leave treats for my brothers and I. Then in my early adult years, I spent most of my Valentine’s Days with my other single friends. I’ve been married now for almost 5 years and I’m here to tell you ladies…being married doesn’t mean you’ll always have romantic Valentine’s Day celebrations! I’m not complaining – even the thought of getting dressed up for a fancy dinner exhausts me – but don’t think you’re missing out on something special if you’re still single. In fact, there are still plenty of ways to celebrate February 14th even if you don’t have a significant other. As you know, I love any reason to throw a party so I’m excited to introduce you to our latest printable party set – Anti-Valentine’s Day Party!
Anti-Valentine’s Day Party:
Let me start by saying I have nothing against Valentine’s Day. I’ll never turn down a heart-shaped box of chocolates; however, celebrating how your love life can sometimes suck is a totally fun alternative to traditional Valentine’s Day celebrations.
Gather your best single friends for a night filled with chocolate desserts, broken heart cookies, and hilarious stories of bad dates from your past. We all have them, don’t we?
For this printable party design, I wanted something with both a gothic and glam feel. I love working with Wendy’s Printable Party because she totally understands my vision and she amazes me with the final products! For this party, I went on the darker side with deep reds, black and a slightly gothic style.
For foods, I went with all sweets because Valentine’s Day is heavy on candy and chocolate! I used this rolled sugar cookie recipe to make heart-shaped cookies and then I used a knife to turn them into broken hearts. You could top them with royal icing or cheat (like I did here) with a jar of frosting.
For the cupcakes, I chose red velvet and I topped them with chocolate fudge frosting. I served them in both cupcake wrappers and mini appetizer dishes.
For a cute added touch, I wrapped our bottles in paper corsets. I love the way that they turned out! These would be perfect for a bachelorette party as well!
For decorating, I used pieces I had around the house like black and silver candle sticks, empty bird cages (with the added No Love Birds Allowed signs), sparkly red material for a table cloth, glittering black wrapping paper for the background, black chargers to hold the food and the Love Bites banner with red ribbon.

I love this idea. It’s a great party to throw someone who just went through a breakup or divorce. The broken heart cookies are perfect.
Thank you, Heather! We are actually working on another party for a recent breakup – it’s such a cute set! Having a party certainly beats crying into a bucket of ice cream. 😉
Ha ha…I love this. Not everyone loves valentines and this is the perfect party for them. Those cookies are very cool!
Thank you so much, Catherine! It was a fun one to set up.
