Before we even had a child, my husband and I agreed that we were going to start teaching our children the importance of giving back to others from a young age. At two years old, our son is still a bit too young to understand the concept but we’ve already started a new tradition of giving back. As a child, I spent so many hours going through each page of the Sears Wish Book in detail to highlight all of the gifts that I wanted to put on my list for Santa. This is a tradition we also want to have with our son and we can already see the excitement in his eyes when he looks through the book. In addition to the gifts that he wants for Christmas, we want him to highlight gifts that we can donate to other children.
This year I contacted a local community center that works with children who may not have much this holiday season. We asked if she could recommend a few kids that could use a special surprise this Christmas and the manager recommended three children (two boys aged 10 and one girl age 6). She let us know about the children’s interests and we were excited to get shopping!
We were able to easily find everything on their wish list in the Sears Toy Book – LEGO, hot wheels, board games, craft supplies and jewelry making kits. The best part of shopping in the Sears Toy Book is that you don’t have to venture out in the cold to go to the mall. By ordering online, everything is delivered right to your home. You can also choose to have gifts delivered right to the door of the recipient! Now that’s convenient!
In addition to our donation gifts, I also did all of the shopping for the little ones on my list (nephews and nieces) online with Sears and the majority of my son’s Christmas gifts were purchase from the Sears Toy Book as well! I’m happy to announce that I am almost done our Christmas shopping! Just a few little pieces left and we’ll be set for Christmas morning!
