One of my favourite weekend getaways is Las Vegas! Whether it’s with your spouse or a girl’s weekend, there is always plenty to do. You can also make the trip as budget-friendly as you want or splurge a little and enjoy the little extras.

The Palazzo Las Vegas:

On my most recent trip, I had the opportunity to stay in my first 5-star hotel, which was the Palazzo.   By far one of my best Vegas experiences yet! From the friendly check-in staff, gorgeous pools and some of the largest standard-rooms in Vegas (there were 3 tv’s in one room), I didn’t have to go far to have a good time.

The hotel boasts the Grand Canal Shoppes which offers some of the top designers, several restaurants from simple burger stops to formal dining, a romantic Gondola Ride and a fabulous casino. As well, the location is near center strip on Las Vegas Boulevard so if you didn’t get enough shopping done in the hotel, you can easily walk to the Fashion Show Mall or head South to the new LINQ area. In LINQ you’ll fin the High-Roller Ferris Wheel where you can take a break and enjoy a 30 minute ride to view Las Vegas from above! Oh did I mention along the way there is a cupcake ATM – that’s right, just plug in your order like you’re withdrawing money and out comes an amazing Sprinkles cupcake!

The Palazzo Las Vegas

My favourite part of any Vegas trip is sitting down at the pool with a good book or magazine and clearing my mind from the everyday hustle and bustle of that busy family life. Although I very much like the pools at the MGM and Mirage, The Palazzo (also shared with the Venetian) definitely hosted the largest and most beautiful pool area I have ever seen. There were a multitude of pools to choose from, some close to the bar, one private, one that hosted a younger pool party, one that had lots of shaded areas and other pools had plenty of hot sun.

So the next time you need a weekend getaway, try looking up Las Vegas! Don’t forget to pack that sunscreen! I never head to Vegas without my Aveeno bottle in tow or I’m bound to come home looking a little bit like a lobster. Aveeno offers many types of sunscreen so you can find the perfect match for your skin – Aveeno Protect & Hydrate which nourishes skin all day; Aveeno Sensitive Skin which is 100% naturally-sourced, sunscreen for babies, kids and more! It’s never too early to start teaching your children about the importance of sun protection. Share your sun protection tips on social media using the #FunandSunSafeSummer hashtag!
