Movie Night Snacks

A fun & easy craft idea for your next family date night is to create your own bowls for movie night snacks.

One of the many fun parts of a family movie date night is the delicious snack food that goes along with it. Your kids can easily create their own personalized bowl for movie night snacks with a few simple supplies.

From your local dollar store, you can pick up plain white porcelain bowls to decorate. Then at your local craft store, you can find permanent (non-toxic and acid-free) markers designed for writing on porcelain or glass products. To create my snack bowl, I used Elmers Painters Opaque Paint Markers. What I like about them is that the paint dried quickly and didn’t run or drip.

Your children can then use these markers to create their own personal and unique bowl to use for all future family movie date nights. It’s a fun way to be creative while making something that they can use over and over again.

Ideas for Movie Night Snacks:

Not sure what to paint or draw on your snack bowl? Here are a few fun ideas:

• Your favorite movie quote
• Draw a picture of your favorite movie character
• Write snack words like “Popcorn”, “Treats” on the bowl
• Write {My Name}’s Snack Bowl
• Write names of famous movie characters

You may want to have your kids write their names and the date on the bottom of the bowl as well. This way you’ll always remember when they created their little masterpiece.

For your next family movie date night, a fun idea would be to set up a movie night concession stand with treats like:

• popcorn
• popcorn salt
• licorice
• chocolate coated candies
• dried fruit
• chips
• nacho chips and salsa or guacamole
• ice cream & sundae toppings
• fruit
• small cookies
• healthy trail mix
• gummies
