Mother Goose Day

Did you know that Mother Goose Day is May 1st? Children have been enjoying Mother Goose stories and rhymes for many years now so it seems fitting that there is a special day to recognize this. Do you have a favorite Mother Goose story or rhyme? How many of the popular rhymes can do you have memorized? Be honest – do you make up some of the words as you go along. {wink}

Here are some fun ideas for celebrating Mother Goose Day with your family.

Mother Goose Day Activity Ideas:

• Free printable coloring pages
• Create your own Humpty Dumpty egg breakfast (hard boiled eggs, poached eggs on toast – any favorite egg breakfast)
• Create your own Humpty Dumpty – hard boil some eggs and then let the kids create their own Humpty Dumpty with markers, dyes and fun stickers
• Humpty Dumpty relay race – set up a few obstacle courses (here are some ideas) and have the kids race through carrying their Humpty Dumpty egg
• Check out your local library as they may have a special children’s event to celebrate Mother Goose Day
• Create some Baa Baa Black Sheep treat bags for the kids (cotton candy in a fun treat bag)
• Have your kids help to make some Muffin Man muffins (use your favorite muffin recipe)
