My “baby” started kindergarten this year and it was tough to leave him at school that first day. I think he could see the worry on my face so he reassured me by saying “It’s okay! You’re my best friend Momma…until school starts then I’m going to make a new best friend.” Well, at least he was honest. Ha! At 5 years old, he still loves playing games with me, he enjoys snuggle time and he still thinks my jokes are funny. I enjoy every one of those snuggles and I’ll continue to act goofy with him until he realizes what an embarrassment I can be. Not sure when that moment will happen but I’m hoping I still have several more years before I lose my “cool mom” status.
He loves Halloween and cannot wait to wear his costumes (yes, he picked out more than one) for trick or treating, the school dance and other parties. While he’s still young enough to think a pairs costume with mom is cool, we decided to go as a fire fighter and Dalmatian dog. From previous years of costume shopping, I know that Value Village is the ultimate destination for unique costumes plus they have great prices.
Not only does Value Village have a huge selection of new costumes & accessories to choose from but they also have a great selection of pre-loved clothing & accessories. With all those choices, you can easily create a unique costume that no one else will have!
Not sure what you’re looking for? Value Village has trained and knowledgeable staff that can help you create the perfect costume for Halloween. Whether you’re looking for a costume that’s ready to wear or a fun costume DIY project, the possibilities really are endless at Value Village. With great prices on both new & used pieces, you may have trouble deciding on just one costume! We brought home a few for Halloween and for my son’s imaginary play at home.
Finding my little fireman’s costume was easy. I picked up the jacket and the hat together then he could just pair it with jeans and rubber boots from home.
For my Dalmatian costume, I put my DIY skills to use. I picked up a fluffy white tutu, Dalmatian ears and a tail, and a black “spotted” necklace and bracelet. I then paired this with a white t-shirt from home, some white leggings and tall black boots. For the Dalmatian spots, I used a large whole punch with black scrapbook paper and stuck them on using fabric tape. Super easy to create and my son had a good laugh at it!
Yes, we did go to the fire station for photos but I think my son was disappointed that there weren’t any fire trucks outside. Ha! He has a fire station school field trip planned for later this month – maybe it’s a good time to get some more use out of his adorable costume!
