1) What is Michelle’s Party Plan-It?
I’ve always loved creating and entertaining family and friends. Birthdays were always a big deal when I was growing up and I believe every day we are given is a gift and worth celebrating. Michelle’s Party Plan-It started as a creative outlet and has blossomed into a blog and Etsy store where everyday is reason to party!
2) What are some of your favorite items to use for dessert table backdrops?
I absolutely love fabric. The textures, the colors and designs are endless. I’ve sewn since I was 8 years old and fabric is always my first choice for backdrops when space allows.
3) Where are some of your favorite places to shop for unique party decor?
I always start by going through my house to see what I can re-purpose and reuse. I also shop my mom’s house, she is an interior decorator and always has the most interesting items in her studio for me to borrow. If I’m shopping for a particular themed item, I often shop at Hobby Lobby and Home Goods. I always keep my eye out for a great deal, an ample party supply stash is a must.
4) Could you share a couple of tips to consider when designing a party food table layout?
I’m a big fan of symmetry and a table with a focal point, something interesting to catch your eye. Having enough table space is very important, you want your table to look neat and well thought out.
5) What are some of your favorite ways for dressing up standard party supplies?
I most often dress up favor boxes with tags, bakers twine or coordinating paper. I also like to use coordinating scrapbooking embellishments and paper dicuts I make with my Silhoutte or Cricut machines.
