I was thrilled to find out that I had been selected to be a LEGO DUPLO Play Agent! What does this mean exactly? Well, for the next 7 months I’ll receive some LEGO DUPLO treasures in the mail and my son will have the opportunity to play with some wonderful toys. Together we’ll get to experience learning through play with LEGO DUPLO – and we’ll share all of our adventures here with you!
Learning Through Play with LEGO DUPLO:
A few days ago we received our first LEGO DUPLO package including:
- LEGO® DUPLO® Large Brick Box
- LEGO® DUPLO® Bricks and Books
- LEGO® DUPLO® Play with Letters
My son is under 2 years old and the LEGO DUPLO toys are perfect for his age. They are small enough for him to manage yet not too small that they present a choking hazard. After he got over the initial excitement of just playing inside the box that the toys were mailed in, we went straight to discovering the fun of LEGO DUPLO! Let me tell you a little bit about each of these toy packages.
LEGO® DUPLO® Large Brick Box: This box contained 71 pieces including bricks, a little LEGO man, pieces with wheels and more. With so many pieces, the possibilities are endless! My son really likes the opening windows. He keeps opening up the window, putting a brick inside, then closing the window again. It’s so cute watching him learn!
LEGO® DUPLO® Bricks and Books: This package came with a story book (Grow Caterpillar Grow) and LEGO pieces to create little creatures in the garden. We read to my son every evening before bed so we were excited to try this one out. As we read him the story, he could play with the toy pieces and try to create little creatures of his own.
LEGO® DUPLO® Play with Letters: This set comes with bricks with & without letters, opening windows, a brick with wheels (perfect for creating a parade float!), a LEGO girl, some flowers and a LEGO cat. My son is not at the age yet where he can point out letters but I can see these being a great tool for spelling practice as he gets older. For now, he enjoys building brick towers for his new pet LEGO cat.
My husband and I have been spending a lot of time on the floor playing with the toys as well. My son loves having this special time with us to play as a family. As I stack bricks, my son helps put new pieces on the top. Each time we make it a little taller, he claps his hands with excitement. My husband (who is 6′ 4″) didn’t think I could build a free standing tower taller than him – but I proved him wrong!
Learning through play is such an important part of development for children of all ages. The great thing about learning through play is that you also create great memories with your child while doing so!
I remember the first time my son stood on his own – he was standing up to reach toys out of his toy box! He amazes me every day with the new skills he learns while playing with his toys.
These LEGO DUPLO toys are also giving him the opportunity to learn to clean up after himself. How great is that, right?! He enjoys putting all of the bricks back inside his bucket…and then dumping them all over the floor again. Oh well, it’s a start, right?
How do you see your children learning through play? Have you watched them master a task that you didn’t even know they could tackle yet?
Disclosure: I am a LEGO DUPLO Play Agent and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.

I love Duplos! This sounds like such a fun opportunity. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous!
That is so awesome. How did you get to be an agent with Duplo? Very wonderful. Great review too. I will be on the lookout for these toys.
I know – what a great opportunity, right?! This one is through Mom Central Canada.
I didn’t realize they had letter blocks! Love those.
I’m jealous! I love the ones with the letters – we don’t have those and my 2yo would love them.
