Kool-Aid Slushies and Snow Cones

This #KoolOff #CollectiveBias post is courtesy of our contributor Michelle…Summer is a time for pool parties and BBQs with family and friends. A large spread of snacks, food and drinks are the focus at any weekend gathering, the bigger the better to feed my growing teenagers. My oldest son is fourteen and has never liked the carbonation of soda, so I always make large quantities of iced tea, lemonade or Kool-Aid for our weekend BBQs. I was excited to see Kool-Aid is now available in 3 flavors (Grape, Watermelon and Tropical Punch) at Walmart in the large 96 oz container. Best of all, no mixing is needed! It’s a great drink to grab when you’re on the go between sports practice or on long road trips.

Kool-Aid Slushies & Snow Cones:

This past weekend we decided to cool off with a dip in the pool and enjoyed some Kool-Aid slushies and snow cones poolside. Using my table top ice shaving machine and the ready to serve Kool-Aid, I made grape snow cones and slushies for my son and a couple of his high school friends.

Although Kool-Aid is not a syrup, it is a great alternative to the sugary syrups I traditionally use when making snow cones and slushies for my family. If you are looking for an alternative way to serve Kool-Aid, try pouring it over shaved ice and enjoy it with a spoon! It’s a sure way to keep you cool this summer.

Do you have a fisherman in your family? Then you’ll be excited to hear this – Jim Dillard, pro fisherman, could be coming to your local Walmart to help promote the new 96oz Kool-Aid bottles! There will be product giveaways, t-shirts, games, and more fun activities!
