Disneyland for Toddlers

I’ve heard a few people mention that they are waiting for their kids to be older before taking them to Disneyland. Even though my little guy is not quite two years old, I knew he’d love the parks. Of course I expected that The Happiest Place on Earth would be toddler-friendly but I was surprised at how many attractions and conveniences there are in Disneyland for toddlers.

Disneyland for Toddlers – Baby Care Center:

Both parks – Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park – have Baby Care Centers that have all of the conveniences you need when caring for a little one. As you walk into the Baby Care Center, you are welcomed by someone at a front desk who is there to help you with anything you need.

There are plenty of change tables plus a small toilet and sink for little ones who are potty trained. In the cupboards you’ll also find diapers, diaper cream, baby powder, wipes, lotion and more.

For nursing mothers, there is a private curtained area filled with rocking chairs where you can comfortably & quietly nurse your little one.

Looking for a quiet area to feed your little ones? Then you’ll love the high chair area that is fully stocked with bottles, formula, baby food and more!  There is also a microwave for added convenience and a sink for cleaning up after.

Disneyland for Toddlers – Car Seat:

Anyone with a young child knows how difficult it can be to travel with all of the supplies a little one needs such as a stroller, car seat, bags, diapers and more. If you book a large shuttle from the airport to Disneyland, you won’t need to bring your car seat. There are no seat belts on the large shuttle and your little one can simply be held in your lap. If you feel more comfortable having your little one in a small vehicle with a car seat, there are many car rental and car service companies that will provide a car seat for your use for an extra fee.

Disneyland for Toddlers – Strollers:

While in Disneyland, you will be doing a lot of walking. You’ll want to have a stroller with you to give your little one a break from walking, to shield him/her a bit from the sun and perhaps even use it for a little nap while in the park. Stroller rentals are available from outside the Disneyland Park entrance. The current rate is $15/day for one stroller and $25/day for 2 strollers.

When we first started planning our trip, I was going to make a list of all of the attractions that were safe for my little guy’s age. I quickly discovered that the list of attractions he could go on was a lot longer than the ones he couldn’t! There is a convenient stroller parking area at each of the rides and you are able to bring your baby bags and sippy cups along with you.

Phew! It’s a long list, isn’t it? Even though some attractions have no height restriction, I’d recommend watching the ride first before trying it out with your little one. Some attractions may scare little ones (dark rooms, spinning too fast, etc.). There are so many attractions to choose from so you’ll never have a shortage of things to do! We weren’t sure if our little guy would be scared on the Mad Tea Party ride but he loved it. The only time he was upset is when we had to leave the ride!

Disneyland for Toddlers – Rider Swap:

There are also plenty of attractions for the older children and adults too (although my husband and I enjoyed all of the rides my son was able to go on!). Disneyland wants to make it easy for parents to both have an opportunity to try everything that they have to offer so they have a convenient Rider Swap program.

So each parent can take a turn on a ride while the other waits back with the little one(s), simply ask the attendant at the beginning of the ride for a Rider Swap card. After the first parent enjoys the ride, the second parent can use the Rider Swap card with little to no wait time. It’s a great way to save time while keeping your little ones entertained.

Disneyland for Toddlers – Shows:

In addition to the fun attractions, there is always a fun show going on somewhere around the park. Whether it’s a parade, a fireworks show, the breathtaking World of Color or characters walking around the park – there is so much for your little ones to enjoy!

I’ve already told my husband that I want to take my son there every year! There is so much to see and do and I’m sure we’ll discover new things to see and experience with each visit. Have you taken a little one to Disneyland? If so, what was his/her favorite part?
