Last week I discovered Bird’s Party and I was amazed! Amazed at all of the creative ideas and surprised that I hadn’t come across this creative site sooner! I highly recommend browsing the Bird’s Party Magazine – I won’t tell you how much time I spent looking through all of the creative ideas last week. If you’ve already read the post on my son’s 2nd birthday party, you’ll see that I used a few of the Bird’s Party supplies in his party (like the adorable stick horses). Today she is here to share some creative party ideas with us – she makes party planning look so easy!

2) What are your favorite tips for dressing up some standard birthday party supplies?
{I love the ideas of propellers on straws for an aviation party & butterflies on paper lanterns!} The propellers and butterflies are actually part of our printable designs!
Printables offer are a unique and affordable way to jazz the simplest of tableware – be it fancy china or disposable goods. So use them! With a little creativity and know-how you can create beautiful parties with printable for any celebration or season without having to be a crafts expert, nor spend a fortune!
I am a huge fan of handmade or homemade, and that goes for the food as well as decor. BUT you do not have to be a master baker either. Store-bought cakes, desserts and drinks can be embellished with printable decor, assorted candy and fondant decorations to make them stand out!
3) What are some of the most original ideas you’ve seen for a party backdrop?
One of our most popular posts on the blog concerns an Anthropologie inspired backdrop. But anything from a poster board, painter’s canvas to paper fans and lanterns can be used. I have even used shower curtains and duvet covers!

4) What suggestions do you have for cute ways to decorate place settings for kids at parties?
Printables are my number one choice for party and table decor. But also try use what you have at home, re-purpose items to create a fun and engaging table. Make the table interesting for the kids with games and activities like coloring placemats, chalkboard tablecloths, cootie-catchers etc.
No point having expensive tableware or precious linen that may get ruined, so again for disposable tableware, but beautifully styled with the help of some unique printables!
5) What has been the most original party favor you’ve seen for a child’s birthday?
I love giving favors that the kids helped to make. Not only it also doubles as a party activity, but kids are more likely to treasure the item for longer.
So whether you’re sending little guests home with a cookie they’ve decorated at the party, or a handmade puppet or treasure box, make sure they got involved in making or embellishing the item – Much more fun and frugal too!
