This Love Bug Cake Pop tutorial is courtesy of our contributor Deanna…Can you believe it? It’s almost FEBRUARY…I really hope this entire year doesn’t zoom by as fast as January has. We don’t really do much for Valentine’s Day, but now that my son is old enough to know what is going on I try to make each holiday extra special. This Valentine’s Day I planned on doing a “love bug” theme and thought lady bugs would be perfect! I turned the spots into hearts on one to make it extra special, but you could use these lady bugs for any occasion and replace the hearts with the typical spots. Lets get started!
Lady Love Bug Cake Pops – Supplies:
- undipped cake pop balls
- cake pop sticks
- silicone mat or parchment paper
- red chocolate
- black chocolate
- white chocolate
Take your cake pop ball and slice off the very top, then flip it over and place the flat side down.
Dip your stick into the red chocolate, and then into the round top of the cake pop. Let that chocolate harden.
Dip your entire cake pop into the red chocolate, gently tap off the extra chocolate, and place flat side down onto your parchment paper or silicone mat. Let chocolate harden.
Take your lady bug and dip the very front into the black chocolate, this will be his face. Let the extra chocolate fall off then set onto your parchment paper or silicone mat. Let chocolate harden.
Using your toothpick, draw a line across his back in the center, then add spots or if you’re making these for Valentine’s Day like me turn those spots into small hearts.
Take your toothpick and add a couple white eyes, then after those harden go back with a very small dot of black.
You did it! Adorable little lady love bugs! I bet your kids will love this sweet treat on Valentine’s Day!
“Some BUGGY loves you!”
