Summer has always been my favourite season. I love the warm weather, the sunshine, the festivals, the vacations and so much more. I’m always thinking ahead to our next vacation and planning where I want to go and what I want to see. Now that we have a two year old, our vacation plans are much different than they were in our single days. He absolutely loves the water so we’re always searching for fun water park vacations. As parents of a toddler, we’re always looking for vacations that are a short travel distance away.
So far this summer we have one trip planned. We’ll be heading to Riding Mountain National Park to try out one of the new oTENTik units. Neither my husband nor I have traveled to this National Park before so we’re going to have to do some research ahead of time to choose the shortest driving distance – we’ll be utilizing the Maps and TripTik services on the CAA website. One thing is for sure, we’ll have our CAA card on hand in case of any car trouble. Stay tuned for a full post about our Parks Canada adventure!
Ideas for Water Park Vacations:
While on our first family trip to California in March, we discovered that my son is a beach nut! He loves playing in the sand and splashing in the water. We took him to a local lake over the July long weekend and he absolutely loved it. Our summer family fun plan will certainly include a lot of trips to the beaches and water parks.
Since I’ll be in Toronto for business at least two more times this year, I’d like to bring along my husband and little guy to make one of those trips into a fun family vacation. At the top of our list for places to visit is the Fallsview Indoor Waterpark. It is North America’s largest indoor water park and resort with 3 acres of indoor fun! My son would love the Tiny Tots Splash Park and my hubby would love the Tube Tower waterslide. It is also a very short walk (2 minutes!) from Niagara Falls so it would be a perfect vacation spot.
While in the area, we’d also love to check out the Wild Water Kingdom. My little guy is sure to love the Dolphin Bay Water Playground and I’d love floating through down the Lazy River. My husband could be the more adventurous one by trying out some of the wild waterslides like The Cliff (a 7 storey vertical drop – yikes!) and The Night Rider. I also think I’d have a blast watching him try to conquer the Wild Water Rock Climbing Wall. I love attractions that both my guys will enjoy.
Did you know that CAA SCO Members receive discounts to both the Fallsview Indoor Waterpark and the Wild Water Kingdom when you pre-purchase tickets online through CAA Tickets Online or at a CAA store? CAA SCO has plenty of ways to save on attraction tickets. Want to know the best part? Saving on attraction tickets means that you can plan a fun family vacation while staying within your budget!
What are your summer plans?

We went to Fallsview Waterpark in March and I have to say that we all had a blast. My 4 year old did not want to leave. We’ll definitely be going again. This time, she wants to stay at the waterpark and not go out. We did all the touristy things, but she was happy enough just at the waterpark! LOL!
Waterparks are so much fun … can’t wait to go to one this winter. it will be a first for us.
We could use a visit to the waterparks soon! Heatwave over here in Ontario!
