This Geometric Mother’s Day Table article is courtesy of our contributor Dawn of Revel and Glitter…I’m all about twists on traditions and Mother’s Day is no exception. When I came across these fun napkins at Target, it became the inspiration for a colorful geometric Mother’s Day table! Usually, it’s all about flowers, pastels and tea parties; mixing it up with a modern take for you and your mom or an intimate get-together for all the moms in your life is a guaranteed winner for a lovely Sunday.
It is easy to find party inspiration, from your favorite color or food to, in my case, the colors and triangle design of our napkins. It was a great starting point to building the look of our table.
I love a pretty centerpiece but sometimes they can get in the way of the conversation. With a few folds of paper, I created a runner of origami pyramids, low enough to keep the conversation flowing. I used this tutorial with cardstock paper for an inexpensive yet fabulous look. The same cardstock and a triangle paper punch was used to create our table confetti.
Like any styled table, this one leans on my secret tip of layering, layering, and more layering. Always start with a base like a table cloth or in my case, the gold runner, and go from there. Layers, whether you are using height or texture, add visual interest and keeps the eyes moving.
Don’t be afraid to mix and match your good china with paperware, just another way to add interest…and save you some dishwashing. It also makes for a less stuffy affair.
Our bud vases work double-duty as place cards and favors; who doesn’t love a simple flower to brighten up a desk or shelf? Inexpensive ones can be found at any craft or dollar store.
It is easy to coordinate drink bottles to the color palette by wrapping it in the same cardstock I used for our other crafts. Don’t forget to add a fun paper straw.
Ready to host a fabulous Mother’s Day? I have lots of great party, recipe and craft ideas, like my Mother’s Day Brunch, to help you get started.
