Fun Breakfast Idea For Kids

My son is only two years old and I work from home so we are rarely in a rush to get up in the morning. Maybe I should rephrase that…I’m never in a rush to get up in the morning but my son is always excited to wake up for breakfast and cartoons. I love that he’s home with me every morning so we get to take our time with breakfast, watch some cartoons and play. Breakfast is very casual around here – we skip the kitchen table, wear our jammies and eat in the living room. I know that in a few short years he’ll be starting school so we’ll have to start setting alarm clocks, packing lunches and moving quickly in the mornings. I’m going to soak up all these lazy mornings with him while I can!

Do you make creative meals for your kids? Are they allowed to play with their food? We love Pillsbury Toaster Strudels because they are like little art canvases with icing paint! I love drawing pictures on them with the icing but today I decided to kick it up a notch and colour my icing. What did I come up with? This fun Sunshine and Rainbow Toaster Strudel!

Simply divide the icing into little piles on a plate and add drops of different food colouring to each. Use toothpicks to mix the food colouring with the icing and then you can use those little toothpicks as paintbrushes. You may want to let the Toaster Strudel cool for a few minutes after removing it from the toaster so that the icing doesn’t melt and spread too much.

So after I made this fun breakfast idea for kids, I was so proud of myself! I showed my husband, I took pictures, I got ready to enjoy it until…it slid off my plate and onto the floor. As my son would say, “Oh Man!”. Did I still eat it? You bet I did! Don’t judge me…it was delicious.
