Have you been to the baby department in Sears lately? They’ve recently completed some major renovations in everything from department layout through product selection. I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve been chosen as an ambassador for The Baby’s Room for Sears Canada. Over the next 6 months I’ll be making a lot of visits to Sears and sharing some exciting news with you! October is Everything Baby Month at Sears and they are celebrating with a large baby product sale during October 12th – 25th.
A few days ago, I took a trip to the new The Baby’s Room department at Sears and I can honestly say that I was really impressed. I met with a couple of associates there who gave me a tour of the department and told me about some of the changes they’ve recently made. Sears has completed a lot of research in the needs of parents with young children. For any of you that have had children, you know how overwhelming it can be to walk into a store filled with baby supplies. How do you know what you really need? What do you need for when the baby first comes home?
Sears is trying to help eliminate some of the confusion by focusing on the needs of parents & babies. Rather than provide a large department filled with every gadget you could buy for your baby, they are focusing on the essentials and then offering an excellent selection in the products that you actually need.
As an example, all babies need a place to sleep. In the store I visited, they used to have 2 cribs on display. Now they have 8 complete bedroom sets on display so you can see how the crib, dresser and change table could look in your home. Each baby room sample is shown with a bedding set, matching mobile, lamp, bumper bads, etc. This way you can actually see the entire set as it could be displayed in your home. You can take measurements, photos and actually have a close look at the quality of the products.

Sears understands the importance of convenience when shopping. For this reason, they have organized the store into a logical layout. For example, when you are looking for items related to travel (such as strollers, car seats, baby bags, and carriers), you’ll find these all organized in a common area. When you are shopping for items related to feeding, you’ll find the bottles, bottle warmers, blenders, yogurt makers, and bottle cleaning supplies all in one common area.

What is one baby product that you used that you would recommend to all your friends?

Sears has always had a great baby section and their return policy is top notch. We bought our portable playpen/diaper table from them and had a problem with a faulty part. They replaced the entire unit almost no questions asked (needed a receipt). When you’re an already tired parent it’s nice to not have to fight with the store and manufacturer to get a problem fixed.
I’m super loyal to Costco because of their return policy and after this experience Sears got added to the list.
