Canada Day Desserts:

One of my absolute favourite Canadian desserts are Nanaimo Bars. Yes, I have eaten too many in one sitting and suffered a tummy ache but it was so worth it! As a twist on this popular dessert, Jo & Sue have created these delicious Nanaimo Bar Cupcakes & Whoopie Pies (pictured above). I wish I had some of these right now!

Now when I say that Nanaimo Bars are delicious, I seriously mean that they are DELICIOUS!! All caps with two exclamation points? Oh yes, I’m not messing around here. If you haven’t tried them yet, you really must. Don’t believe me yet? Take a look at this Nanaimo Bar Cheesecake by Because I Like Chocolate…now I bet you’re wishing you could eat a huge slice while hiding in the closet so that you don’t have to share with your family. Go ahead, I won’t judge. {wink}

It was about 4 years ago in Montreal, Quebec that I was introduced to Beavertails. Oh my gosh, they are SO delicious! After I tried them once, I kept insisting that my husband take me back there daily while we were on vacation. Unfortunately, we don’t live near a place that makes them. Good news though – Inspired Edibles has a recipe for Homemade Baked Beavertails!
