This Valentine Penguin Cake Pops tutorial is courtesy of our contributor Deanna of Dee’s-licious Desserts…Hello 2016! I thought it would be fun to kick off the new year with a super cute penguin, but not just any cute penguin, this guy is holding a heart! He could be holding anything your heart desires, but I thought with Valentine’s Day right around the corner (seriously? yeah! I know..), these little candies would be easy to get your hands on. I can already envision punching a couple holes in a valentine that says “Lets chill, Valentine” or “You give me happy feet” attached to the stick.
Valentine Penguin Cake Pops – What You’ll Need:
- Cake pop dough
- White Chocolate
- Black Chocolate
- Orange Chocolate
- Cake pop sticks
- Wax or Parchment paper
- Heart Candies
First roll out your cake pop balls to be bottom heavy. Think short, fat, and adorable.
Next, dip your cake pop sticks into some chocolate, and stick it right into the top of the cake pop ball.
I always fill the cracks and craters with chocolate – this helps the end product look a bit more smooth.
Once that chocolate has hardened dip the entire thing into white chocolate, tap off extra chocolate, and set on wax paper to dry.
Here’s a nice little tip for ya – I always take a toothpick and draw or lightly carve my design into the chocolate. It’s hard to capture this on camera so I hope you can see it!
Take your toothpick and use it as a paint brush to apply the black chocolate outline onto your penguin.
“Glue” on the heart candy with a bit of chocolate smack dab in the middle.
With your toothpick again, paint on the penguins flippers making sure the end is slightly on the heart candy.
Now, take your toothpick again and give the penguin some feet and a beak.
Lastly, dot on those little eyes.
And you did it! Aren’t they adorable? ALMOST too cute to eat. I hope everyone has a fantastic Valentine’s Day! See you next month.
