This fishing cookies tutorial is courtesy of our contributor Amy of BZ Bees Sweet Treats…There’s no denying that the fishing and fathers go hand in hand. These sweet little trout cookies would be the perfect catch for a Father’s Day treat!
Fishing Cookies – Tools Needed:
- White royal icing (piping and flood consistency)
- Forrest Green royal icing (ping and flood consistency)
- Yellow, Green, Pink, Brown and Black edible ink markers
Start by outlining the top half of your fish with your green piping icing. Be sure to outline the top fin and all the way around the tail.
Next, outline the bottom half using the white piping icing, including the bottom fins.
Switch over to your green flood consistency icing and draw a line across the center of your cookie. Start where the white and green piping icing meet at the mouth and angle toward the bottom of the tail. Flood the top part of your cookie in green and the bottom in white.
Let this icing dry 5-10 minutes before filling in the fins.
Fill in the fins and add a drop of white for the eye. Allow the cookies to dry overnight.
Using your yellow marker outline the green part of your fish and tail area. Do the same along the bottom of the white section, including the fins.
Next, add some definition lines along the top fin and tail using your green marker.
Using the pink marker, draw a line across the center of your cookie between the green and white sections. Remember this should look somewhat organic, so don’t worry about making perfectly straight even lines.
Use your brown maker to make dots of varying sizes and spacing along the green area of your fish.
I decided to add a little more definition to the tail in brown.
Fill in your eye using the black marker.
Don’t you love how you can create so much added detail with minimal effort? These little cuties are certainly the catch of the day!
