You know that really popular old black & white photo of construction workers sitting on a steel beam while eating lunch high above the city? When I started planning a construction party for Calgary’s Child Magazine, I knew this had to be part of my party! You’ll have to wait until July 2015 for all the party photos and article but I wanted to share this construction party lunch idea with you now because it’s just so cute!
Construction Party Lunch Idea:
I gave my husband the task of turning 3 boards, grey spray paint and screws into a “steel beam” for our little construction workers to sit on. I then asked the super talented Wendy of Wendy’s Printable Party to make me some old-fashioned “tin” lunch pails for the party guests. From our local craft store, I found some yellow plastic construction hats for the kids to wear while eating their lunch. It was all really easy to put together and I think it’s such a fun & unique idea for a construction birthday party! A fun themed alternative to a regular party table!
Your little construction workers can play in the dirt and sand outside and then take their lunch break on the beam with their little lunch pails (the printable lunch boxes are now available in our Etsy shop). You could also set up a coffee break area with donuts and kid-approved drinks in disposable coffee cups.
Thank you to Wendy & my hubby for helping me bring this idea to our backyard!
Stay tuned for all the construction party ideas in the latest edition of Calgary’s Child Magazine. I’ll link it up here once the magazine is live.
