Your dinosaur birthday invitation could start with a line like “Get ready for a ROARING good time!” or “{Child’s name}-osaurus is turning {age}!” or “Dinosaur bones have been reported in the area! Please join us for a dino dig in celebration of {Child’s Name}’s birthday!” Dinosaur Birthday Invitations1. Birthday party invitation, Go, Diego, Go: Dinosaur Dash

From your local dollar store, you can buy long vines to hang from the ceilings or in the entrance way to the party.  Green and brown streamers also work well for this.  You can scatter dinosaur toys around the room, on the food table and in play areas.  You may also want to include a sand pit for the dino dig game I’ll discuss a little later here.  Here are some other fun ideas: Dinosaur Birthday Decor1. Dinosaur Birthday – Food:

Dinosaur Birthday FoodA fun idea is to have a table for the “Carnivores” for meat food items like a meat & cheese tray, sandwich meat subs or hamburgers. You can give the food items fun names like T-Rex Burgers.

You can then have another table for the “Herbivores” with pasta salad, veggies and dip and other vegetarian options.

An easy drink that goes well with the theme is a red punch, red Kool-Aid or red juice with a label of “Lava Juice”. Dinosaur Birthday Food1. Dinosaur Train Ultimate Box

2. Small Plastic Dinosaurs
3. Pith Helmet
4. Dig & Find Dino Excavation Kit
5. Plastic Magnifying Glasses
6. Sand Pails

Dinosaur Dig:  Bury small plastic dinosaurs (or small eggs with dinosaur stickers inside) and hide them in the sand for the children to dig up.  Anything the children find can be added to their treat bag to take home.

Dinosaur Birthday Activities

Dinosaur Hopscotch:  This is a fun game for the kids that’s easy to set up.  Cut out large dinosaur footprints (a little Google Image search will help you find some to print) and lay them out in a hopscotch pattern.  After each child takes 1 turn, remove one footprint and have the kids each take a turn again.  If any child misses a footprint on the way through the hopscotch, then that child is out of the game. After each round, continue to remove one footprint.  The last child remaining is the winner!

Volcanoes:  Using some clay or even some dirt outside, have the children make erupting volcanoes with this fun science experiment.

Museum Scavenger Hunt:  You could host your child’s birthday party at your local museum and create a fun scavenger hunt in the museum.  Here’s a link to a museum scavenger hunt that you can print for free.

Dinosaur Birthday – Treat Bags:

In addition to the fun dinosaur dig gear that the children can use at the party and then take home with them, here are a few other fun ideas: Dinosaur Birthday Favors1. Dinosaur Wind-Up

Dino Dig

Most kids love digging & playing in the sand so a fun idea for a play date would be a dino dig. Dino Dig Activity Ideas

For this fun dino dig activity, you could hide little plastic dinosaurs in the sand (either in your yard or at the park) and provide the kids with little plastic shovels, sand sifters, & buckets so they can dig for these buried treasures. You may want to include little magnifying glasses so they can analyze their findings.

If you can’t find any small plastic dinosaurs to hide for your dino dig, you could bury little plastic eggs with dinosaur stickers inside and call it a dino egg dig.

Perhaps you can also find some fun dinosaur sand molds for the kids to create their own dino creatures in the sand. Bring your camera to take pictures of their fun creations.

As a treat for the kids, you could also hand out a few dino egg candies or dino gummies. You could even serve dinosaur sandwiches by simply using a dinosaur cookie cutter with your favorite sandwich recipes. This would be a fun picnic idea for the dino dig at the park.

Looking for some fun dinosaur trivia? Check out this fun game from Kidz World. You could make note of a few random dinosaur fun facts to quiz the kids with while on their dino dig adventure.

To make sure every child goes home with the same amount of treasures, you could ask the kids to place all their findings into a large bucket as they dig them up and then distribute them evenly to the kids at the end of the play date.

Don’t forget to bring along hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, water and hand wipes.

Does your little one have a favorite dinosaur or watch any dinosaur television programs?
