Baby Shower Word Game

Baby shower games are a great way to get your guests interacting at a party. This Baby Shower Word Game is perfect for even the shyest guests. Simply print the free printable game and cut out each card. Playing the game is simple!

Split your guests into two teams and each team takes a turn choosing one player to select a card. So, first up is Team A. Team A’s selected player for this round randomly selects a card. That person must get their team to guess the word in blue without saying any of the words in pink. As an example, look at this first card. The player must get their team to say “Diaper” without saying “Pampers”, “Huggies”, “Poop”, “Pee” or “Change”. So you could say “This is something the baby wears every day” or “Something stinky”.

Baby Shower Word Game

One player from the opposite team must watch over the “reader’s” shoulder to make sure they don’t say any of the words in the pink section. If their team guesses the right answer within 10 seconds, they win a prize. The 10 second countdown starts once the reader has finished giving the clue. If Team A doesn’t guess the correct answer, Team B gets one chance to guess the right answer. Why only 10 seconds? The short time limit gets guests shouting out funny answers to try to beat the clock. If guests have too much time to guess, they’d likely get every answer right and you want to keep them on their toes!

For this Baby Shower Word Game, keep in mind that you can’t say variations of the secret word itself. For example, if the secret word is “Car Seat” you can’t say either “Car” or “Seat”. Also, if one of the pink words is “Play” you can’t use other variations of the word like “Playing” or “Played” or “Player”.

Dr. Seuss Baby Shower

These Dr. Seuss baby shower ideas are perfect for either before the baby arrives or after the baby is born. You can decorate your party area in bright blue & red colors (which are also gender neutral) and set out a few Dr. Seuss books from your local library.

Here I’ll share ideas with you for baby shower party games. For ideas on food, drinks, decor and more, you can visit this Dr. Seuss Birthday Party post. The party printables featured here are by Just a Little Sparkle.

Dr. Seuss Baby Shower Games

Here is my attempt at rhyming for a sample of invitation wording for a Dr. Seuss themed shower. Anything with rhyming words (especially silly character names) is perfect for a baby shower invitation. If the baby shower is for twins, you can also work Thing 1 and Thing 2 into the party theme.

A baby is on its way,

so cuddly & sweet!

We can’t wait for the day

to see those tiny feet!

So it’s time to celebrate -

we’ve now set the date!

Mark down March 1st

’cause you won’t want to be late!

Dr. Seuss Baby Shower Games:

Horton Hears a Baby: This fun game is inspired by the Dr. Seuss book Horton Hears a Who. Simply provide each guest with a small item to pin on their shirts as they arrive to the party (small felt diapers, ribbons, etc.). Once all of the guests arrive, let the guests know that no one can say the word “baby”. If a guest hears another guest say the word “baby”, they have to shout out “Horton Hears a Baby!” and then they get to have the pin of the person who said “baby”. Near the end of the shower, the person with the most ribbons wins a prize.

Dr. Seuss Baby Shower Game

Welcome to Whoville: In the party invitation, ask guests to bring a baby photo of themselves to the party. As guests arrive, lightly tape these photos to a large poster board and number each picture. Guests will then have a chance to look at each of the photos and try to guess who the baby in each photo is. Not all guests may know each other at the party so name tags would be handy for this game.

How many silly Dr. Seuss characters can you remember?

Paris Baby Shower

Paris-themed parties have always been really popular. I’m not sure if it’s because of the feminine party decor or all of the delicious French food! For this Paris Baby Shower theme, I’ll share ideas for invitations, decorations, games, food, drinks and favors. All of the party printables featured here are courtesy of Just a Little Sparkle.

Paris Baby Shower Ideas

Paris Baby Shower – Invitation:

This cute invitation by Just a Little Sparkle includes a few French-inspired touches like the Eiffel Tower and the French poodle. Inside the envelope you could include a few pink feathers or you could tie lace ribbon around the outside of the envelope (for invitations that you are able to deliver by hand).

Paris Baby Shower – Desserts:

The only issue I have when planning desserts for a party is narrowing my selection to 3-4 desserts. When it comes to French-inspired desserts, the choices seem to be endless! If you select small desserts like mini éclairs, petite cupcakes, single-serving fruit tarts and chocolate covered fruit, you can add a wider variety without overloading the dessert table.

Paris Baby Shower Eclairs

Paris Baby Shower – Drinks:

Sparkling cider served in champagne glasses is a drink that even the mommy-to-be can enjoy. You can dress up the drinks by adding a strawberry on the rim or using the printable cupcake toppers as coasters for the glasses (as shown in the photo below).

Paris Baby Shower Drinks

Paris Baby Shower – Activities:

Having a photo booth area at a party is always a fun activity for all ages. You can include some chalkboard speech bubbles, feather boas, tiaras, french hats, long plastic pearl necklaces, empty decorative frames and more! Wrapping paper works great as a simple backdrop for the photo area. A fun idea would be for guests to take a turn getting dressed up in the accessories and then writing their guesses on the baby’s gender, arrival date and weight on a sign to hold up in the photo. These would make great additions to the thank you cards and are a sweet touch to a new baby’s scrapbook.

Paris Baby Shower – Favors:

These adorable personalized purse favors are by Paper Glitter. You simply print the purses, cut out the design and then assemble them with a little bit of double-sided tape.

Favor ideas include:

  • chocolate Eiffel Tower
  • Eiffel Tower shaped cookies
  • pink rock candy sticks
  • small shimmer lotions

Cravings Baby Shower

While you were pregnant, did you have any weird cravings? Are you usually a vegetarian but you craved hamburgers? Did you crave pickles and ice cream? Before planning this Cravings Baby Shower, I asked the readers on Facebook what kinds of food they craved while pregnant. I was surprised at the variety of answers! Cream soda seems to be popular for a drink and there were a lot of salty foods on the list. For this fun baby shower theme, you’ll want to ask the mommy-to-be what her biggest pregnancy cravings are and then try to work these foods into the buffet table. All of the adorable party printables featured here are by Just a Little Sparkle.

Cravings Baby Shower Invitations:

Pickles & Spice, and Everything Iced…

That’s What This Shower is Made Of!

One of the many reasons why I love this adorable invite from Just a Little Sparkle is that it includes my favorite color combination – pink & green! After sending out your invitations, save one to put on display at the baby shower. Your mommy-to-be will also want to save one for her baby scrapbook.

Do you remember scratch ‘n sniff stickers? Check your local dollar store or craft store for ice cream or pickle scented stickers. This would make an adorable seal on the invitation’s envelope.

Cravings Baby Shower Invitation

Cravings Baby Shower Decorations:

In sticking with the “pickles and ice cream” cravings theme, pink & green decor pieces could be used around your party area. This could include tissue fans, tissue poufs, streamers, ribbon, paper plates, napkins, etc.

You could also add in a few fun pieces like an ice cream shaped balloon or pinata.

Cake stands and candy dishes are a great way to display your food…beautiful & delicious! The food signs featured in the pictures below could be set on the table in frames.

For serving ice cream, you could use decorative ice cream bowls, sundae cups or paper bowls wrapped in the same personalized labels used for your drink bottles.

Cravings Baby Shower Decor

Cravings Baby Shower Food & Drinks:

For food selection at a Cravings Baby Shower, it all depends on what your mommy-to-be is craving. You can set up different stations on the buffet table like an area for spicy, an area for salty and an area for sweet.

For this party, my “spicy” area included turkey taco dip and jalapeno sliders.

Cravings Baby Shower Spicy

Cravings Baby Shower Burgers

The “salty” area included sweet potato fries, pickles in a candy vase, and pretzels with a Rolo chocolate melted on the top.

Cravings Baby Shower Fries

Cravings Baby Shower Pickles

Cravings Baby Shower Pretzels

The “sweet” area included ice cream cone cupcakes and an ice cream sundae bar with toppings. Delicious topping ideas include crushed chocolate bars, toasted coconut, sliced almonds, sprinkles, fudge and fresh fruit.

Cravings Baby Shower Sweets

Cravings Baby Shower Cupcakes

Cravings Baby Shower Ice Cream

For the drink area, I chose a green key lime flavored pop with pink striped straws. Other ideas for pink drinks include pink lemonade and cream soda.

Cravings Baby Shower Drinks

Cravings Baby Shower Games:

Not many pregnant mommies crave baby food but in sticking with the “food” theme of a Cravings Baby Shower, you could play a taste testing game with baby food.

Simply number each jar of baby food and remove the labels. Guests must use their sense of smell and taste (no double-dipping!) to guess the flavor of each baby food.

Cravings Baby Shower Favors:

There are so many fun ideas for favors for a Cravings Baby Shower! Some food favor ideas include:

  • small buckets of ice cream
  • ice cream cone shaped cookies along with mini bags of dill pickle chips
  • crushed chocolate bars in mason jars to take home as mix-in’s for ice cream

Some non-food ideas include:

  • ice cream scented lip gloss or lotions
  • ice cream scoops
  • ice cream bowls
