Construction Birthday – Decorations
Construction Birthday decorations are quite easy to pull together. You’ll want to use a lot of yellow, black and bright orange. You can create banners to say things like “Loading Zone” (perfect for the food table), “Unloading Zone” (for the entrance to the party), “Dig In” (by the food table) or “Caution – Party In Progress”. You can buy caution tape and hang it up around the party areas. Safety cones and toy construction trucks can be set out around the party areas. Each child could be given a construction hat and safety vest upon entrance to the party.

Construction Birthday – Food
Your food table could be surrounded by caution tape and safety cones with banners like “Dig In” or “Loading Zone”. Caution tape could serve as napkin rings on top of construction themed plates or black plates on a yellow tablecloth.
Some ideas for food are a build-your-own-burger bar, tractor pasta (with round tractor wheel pasta) or exhaust pipe pasta (mac & cheese).
Your dessert table could include a scrap tire yard (chocolate donuts, crueller donuts, round chocolate cookies with holes in the center) and boulders (chocolate covered fruit or candies). If you love decorating cakes, give this Dump Truck cake from Taste of Home a try.
Construction Birthday – Activities
Relay Race: You can create a relay race for the kids using safety cones that they have to race around.
Digging For Treasure: Hide a few prizes in the sand and let the kids use toy trucks to try to find them and dig them out.
Building Games: Split the children into small teams, supply each with LEGO and have them build race cars to race.
Pinata: Fill a pinata with candies and small toy trucks.
Construction Birthday – Treat Bags
An easy favor for a construction birthday is to give each child a small dump truck filled with candies.
